This year’s Champions League draw brought Cristiano Ronaldo and his former boss back together. Manchester United vs Juventus 23 October 2018 will be one of the most exciting matches of Champions League Group Stages. Two deep-rooted clubs of Europe will be facing each other for the three points.
Manchester United: The Red Devils
After Sir Alex Ferguson has retired, Manchester United had a hard time to get back on their feet. Since 2013, they have assigned four different coaches to the team. And, with the first three, they haven’t had the chance to rise like in the old days. The last one, Jose Mourinho, has a successful history of coaching as any soccer lover would remember. He tried to change the team’s chemistry by scouting young talents and bringing new ideas to the pitch. Yet, he could not stop the team from getting the worst start to the Premier League in the last 29 years. Although things are not looking as shiny as it was once before for Manchester United, they are a big club with a deep background. They can still make other European clubs tremble with only their name.
Juventus: 120-year-old Zebra
Juventus were always a big threat in the Champions League for their rivals. They have a great record of successes in Europe’s big stage. Yet, they have been unlucky in the finals: they have played in 9 finals, but only won the 2 of them. But still, Juventus were counted among the top 5 clubs of the League. Last year, they have faced Real Madrid, who were (and are) quarterfinals the Cup. After losing the first match in the quarter finals, a 3-1 win did not help them go through. Also, this year, Juventus has signed Cristiano Ronaldo. To some, Ronaldo is the best player ever touched the face of the earth. And, he seems to be proving this with his never-failing performance in Juve, too. Despite he was sent off against Valencia, he will play against his former club and his former boss from Real. It will definitely be an interesting match-up to watch.
